Yes, its true another blizzard! The date was 3/23/09 through 3/24/09. It was not as bad as the other blizzard but it was bad enough for them to cancel school for 2 days. I didn't have to work this blizzard...I'm not upset at all. Check out rapidcityjournal.com website for pictures. I will put up video of my last blizzard which was ten times worse then this blizzard!
Be safe out there!

Its been awhile
Well, hello again! I know its been awhile and I'm sorry! Lets see what have I done since the last post. Oh, I went on vacation...a whole month as a matter a fact. I went to the east coast with my wife. We flew into Wilmington, NC. OK so I come from a smaller town, 60,000 people, with a small airport. Well my wife and I flew on separate planes so we had to meet up with her parents on the other end. So I am kinda freaking out think about how I will find my in-laws on the other end. My wife says this, "look in the rocking chairs." I'm thinking, oh yeah thanks great advice, but where the hell are the rocking chairs. Come to find out this airport is no bigger than the Airport in my hometown. OK enough about that. While on vacation we attended a wedding for Dana, Emily's best friend from Tech. She is also the one who took the pictures at our wedding, and did an excellent job I might add. So after spending a few days in Norfolk, VA we made our way up to Washington, DC where we spent a week doing some sight seeing and museum hoping. We saw a lot of neat things in DC. I would also like to thank Mary for letting us stay at her place and giving up her bedroom to us while we were there. I learned a thing or two about DC, one of those things is to stand to the right on the escalator while in the Metro, my wife almost had a breakdown because I wasn't following proper procedure...its all OK though I learned. We met Joel while we were out there along with his roommate the freaky speakin Porta Rican, Carlos, (hey he said it)! Joel blew a hole, and when I say a hole I mean a HOLE, in the side of his tire. Myself and Carlos changed Joel's tire for him. Joel....well he didn't do much but supervise the operation. He's gonna do fine in a government job! After leaving DC we made a stop in Richmond, VA. We stayed with Emily's roommate from college, Jenn...thanks for letting us stay. We visited VCU, where I am looking at going back to school. We also went out on the town, it was a good time. We then left Richmond and headed to Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. We spent a week here, this acted as a vacation while on vacation. We had a great time. My in-laws are great people. We did a little golfing, we walked on the beach...in January and just plain relaxed. Before we left we visited Bald Head Island and Old Baldy lighthouse. I think my new favorite things are Lighthouses. We then flew back to Fort Collins, CO and I spent a week with my lovely wife.
I would like to add the most memorable moment I have from Washington DC is the trip to Arlington National Cemetery and watching the changing of the guard. This was absolutely the most moving moment I have ever seen.
I have now been back to work for 3 weeks, nothing really happening at work. I wish I could give you a report there but there is nothing to report.

Wild Hair
Well lets see where do I start? I was sitting with a really good friend of mine, Nick, last night when I got this grand idea. Ok, so my wife will tell you I always have grand ideas. Ok so this grand idea was to do some moutineering. Yes finish laughing and read up. I want to trek up the side of a mountain in the dead ass cold. Why...why, are you kidding me. Ok so I don't know either, but it sounds fun doesn't it? So I was sitting there talking to Nick and we discussed this and how cool it would be to climb to the top of a huge mountain. I start reading up on this whole mountineering thing while we're there. I am really pumped up and we start talking about this in even more detail, then it dawns on me...shit I have never done anything like this in my life! Ok well thats goning to be alright we just have to start small, you know like your local hiking trail up a mountain. So we get to leave, we throw our coats on and step outside. Ok before I go on I would like to point out it was bitter ass cold last night, I'm talking 12 degrees. I am instantly cold and of course I start bitching about it right away Nick looks at me and says this simple little phrase: And you want to be a mountineer?
Needless to say I got a wild hair up my ass, like I do most of the time. If you don't beleive me ask my wife...she had a list of crazy things I have thought would be cool to do. threw it away.
Just to note I actually would still someday like to do it, but I better start training.

The Begining
Well I guess I will start out by introducing myself. My name is Dustin. I currently work as a Deputy Sheriff. I have worked as a Deputy Sheriff for 3 years. This is a great and rewarding profession but there is always a down side to professions. I will not talk about them right now but I will be venting periodically. I am mainly using this to blog to keep track of my progress with my career achievements and personal goals. I got married to my best friend in June, she is a wonderful person and has opened my eyes up to so many different things. With all this I hope you enjoy watching me grow professionally and personally through my hard work and dedication.
